ISLAND 92 - ON-AIR PERSONALITIES

|
Bogart - Fresh Air In the Morning 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
Bogart (don't ask how he got his name) is Island 92's chief party animal and rock guru in residence. His job is to get home early enough to wake you up as host of Fresh Aire In the Morning. He loves sports, walking on the beach with a pina colada, and serious talks about art [OK, we're lying about everything except the jock stuff!] He's from St. Louis in the US of A and doesn't care who knows it.
Bogart used to work at another radio station in St. Maarten but quit when he got his low-paying job at Island 92. In his spare time, of which he has little, he's Island 92's Director of Sales under the unlikely name of Mike Rieger. He's really pretty good at it too! Email him at bogart@island92.com and hope for the best.

SOC - The Hoochie Coo with SOC 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
Soc, originally from Milford, Connecticut USA, joined the Island 92 team in December 2007 as host of The Island Hoochie Coo with Soc, which airs daily from 11 AM to 2 PM. After hearing that Hilary Clinton might be the next President of States, Soc packed his belongings and made a b-line straight to St. Maarten. In all seriousness, Soc loves St. Maarten so much that he retired from his job in Corporate America and he now volunteers at Island 92 as the mid day host. According to Soc, "I just went to the airport and boarded the next direct flight to a warm climate and that happened to be St. Maarten. Truthfully, I first came here in 1982 as a tourist and have been coming back ever since".
During his free time, Soc can be found beaching, sailing, chasing beautiful women and spending time with his two Golden Retrievers, Simon and Max. Some of you may also know him as Jeff Sochrin and from the charitable foundation he leads, Team Goldendog. Email him at soc@island92.com.

ERB - Island 92 Music Director
Ever since ERB could hold a microphone and press play/record on a cassette deck he wants to be DJ on the radio. He started working for a radio station as soon as he got his drivers license. If you were ever in the Chambersburg, PA or Hagerstown, MD area you may of heard his voice in the late 80s and early 90s. But he soon realized he could not enjoy or afford his other passions, Scuba Diving and Drinking if he continued in radio in the US. So he changed gears and got into Television. After several television editing jobs, he landed in Washington, DC and where he started a company with a few partners to create Political Ads. This gave ERB the opportunity to work for only 3-4 months a year and do what ever he liked the rest of the time so, through a friend he visited SXM many times in one year and decided to permanently vacation here in his off-season. That's when he started living a the Sunset Beach Bar sleeping under the Deck on the rocks and sand. He bumped into Bogart one morning as he came out to get the first drink of the day and the rest is history.
Ever since Bacardi stopped importing Bacardi O he has had to leave the island to keep his liver pickled. He still enjoys the radio and keeps involved from the States as the Production Manager and talking on the air whenever he can get down here with a bottle of O. Moral of this story, radio still does not pay but he works for all the restaurant trade coupons he can carry. Email him at erb@island92.com.

GAZ - YachtBlast with GAZ Sunday @ 11:00 AM & Monday @ 7:00 PM
Two thousand miles from land with the boat taking water through the garboards and I'm the happiest guy around. Oh, did I mention that I'm also the only guy around so maybe madness was setting in. I had my first sail on a partially frozen, flooded, field when I was seven years old. The boat was a rusty tin bath with a broken cricket bat for a paddle. That's how I came to be so adept at pumping. I'm not a technical sailor but if you need someone who can crouch down with his arse in the air for hours on end while swinging a bilge pump handle, I'm your man. Sailing and traveling led to journalism and I finally washed ashore on the steps of Island 92.
Any unfulfilled ambitions? You bet. I want to see the wonders of the Southern Ocean and visit the Arctic before we ruin it completely, and for once own a boat that doesn't need pumping. Until then Gaz will be your host each week on YachtBlast, Island 92's unique look at the world of sailing and the sea. Email him at gaz@island92.com.
